Cohesion Testing System
The plate cohesimeter devised by Lombardi is used to measure the cohesion of grout. It involves a thin plate 100mm x 100mm x 1mm thick with rough surfaces on which grout, providing it has some cohesion, can stick. Depending on the real injection setting, the plate surface can be structurally adapted by different grooves, streaks and holes in order to simulate the actual field conditions. Since there is no ASTM for a standard plate cohesimeter, the value obtained for the cohesion should be considered as a relative value to the base mix. The test is recommended for the determination and verification of the proper mix design during the design stage, as well as index test to guarantee the constant rheology of the grout mix during the grouting works.
